A Fabulous Mother's Day

 Mother's Day was low-key, but beautiful this year!  I enjoyed having the entire day together as a family. We started out with church and took some pictures on the patio after the service:

 

Then it was home, where Colin and the kids presented me with this beautiful herb garden they had made for me.  Colton found and salvaged the trough and then they filled it with soil and planted every herb you could think of (seeds for more are planted in the middle):

 I have wanted an herb garden for years and love it very much!

 Grammy and Grampa came over to join us for a delicious lunch made by Colin.

 He made a seafood boil with sausage, shrimp, squid and scallops along with corn and potatoes. Cady made cornbread to go with it.  It was delish!

 We ended the day with - what else?  Cornhole!  Grampa had fun playing with us. 

I am so blessed to be Colton's and Cady's mama and to be married to Colin.  Days like that where we are all together are the best way to celebrate!!  Thank you, my fabulous family for such a great day!

Happy 85th Gramma Mary!

Last weekend, my mom and I planned and threw my Gramma Mary an 85th birthday party.  We held it at Solstice, where she lives now, in their party room and it turned out so nice!  Mom did the decorations and Cady and I made the cupcake cake.  Tammi helped with the fruit trays.

It was really a great turnout of friends and family too! We were very pleased!

After the party, we took Gramma to eat some BBQ at Rudy's - a place she has wanted to visit since it opened here in Cruces:

It was a wonderful birthday celebration for a very deserving lady!

Colton's Busy Spring

Colton stayed busy from January up until now with 4-H and FFA events.  And now that it's summer, it is only going to get busier for him.  He had a great time and accomplished a lot, though, so that is what matters.

 

He again judged Livestock for Cruces High FFA.  Here he is with his team, Tori, Katelyn, Logan and Javi.

He also judged Dairy some and helped out the Hort Produce team. We were very proud of him.

 He and a group of his peers came to my class one day last month to present a unit on Worms.  Here he is reading a story to them:

 The kids got to play with real worms and then eat chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbs and gummy worms in it.  They loved it and the FFAers all did a great job presenting (l to r:  Katelyn, Kailee, Colton and Ashley):

 

In May, at the LCHS FFA End of the Year Banquet, Colton not only was named Member of the Month, but he also received his FFA Letter and was recognized for getting the letter program started for LCHS FFA.  He worked very hard on it and we were so proud of him.

Last but not least, Colton, along with his friend, Anne who is State 4-H President, was asked to attend an NMSU Board of Regents meeting last week where they led the American and NM Pledges and each gave a brief testimony on 4-H and what it's done for them.

 

 The room was full and it was a big deal!  My friend, Mindy (seen with them below), a State 4-H Specialist, was with them and said how confident they both were and how proud she was of them!  Colin and I were so proud of them, too!



I would love to say that with school about to be out that he is going to be able to get some rest, but he will literally be home about 11 days all of June, with a trip to Peru,  a trip to Flagstaff and FFA Camp in Cloudcroft!  I haven't even begun to figure up his days gone in July yet!

Our Blink-and-You'd-Miss-It Trip to Santa Fe

One weekend in April, Colton had a workshop to put on with his fellow State 4-H Ambassadors at Youth Get Away in Glorieta.  We weren't quite ready for him to drive himself up there, especially through the ABQ traffic, so we made it a family trip.  Cady hadn't been to Santa Fe ever and I hadn't been since the first year Colin and I were married.  We were excited to spend a little time there - and I mean a little!  Colton had prom the next evening so he was only staying part of Saturday. We didn't get in until that evening sometime, just in time for dinner at a local brewery. 

 

The next morning, Colin ran Colton to Glorieta while Cady and I got ready for the day.  He took us to eat at The Pantry - his favorite restaurant for breakfast and it was very good!  We then spent an hour or so exploring the Plaza before we had to head out to get Bub.  It was a short trip but fun and just made us want to go back for a longer stay - hopefully soon!
