One would think, that the best way to spend the first full day of summer vacation is to relax and take it easy! Not in our family, though! We were invited to join a group of friends at Chuck E. Cheese's for an "Out of School Celebration". So, we went and picked up Reagan, who was staying at his Gramma's and Papa's while his parents are chaperoning the Grady Class of 2010 to Orlando, FL for their senior trip. His mom, Missy, is my BFF and we don't get to see them very often since they live in a different part of the state. I told her I would get him a few times while he was here to give him something different to do and the kids were so excited! He is just about to turn 7 and just finished 1st grade and plays very well with both Cady and Colton. We also had him for a little while on Wednesday night at the Family Movie at church. Here are the three of them on the slide, after they blew all their tokens:

Maybe we should do it again before school starts...After a couple of hours there, it was time for the kids and I to head to Colton's friend, Jimmy's house for a birthday party for his little brother. Another couple of hours there, where they enjoyed playing on the huge, inflatable water slide, and then a quick run home to get ready for Colton's baseball game!
Colton is one of only 4 kids on the team who doesn't mind playing catcher:

It was a very long and busy day, but very fun and what better way to start of summer vacation then with a bang?!?! I just hope it isn't a sign as to how busy our summer is going to be! :-)

After the goodbyes, Colton went home with one of his classmate's moms who took 7 of the boys back to her house for a "School's Out Water War". She kept them all 4 hours and fed them lunch, then turned them loose with sprinklers, water blasters and water balloons. Colton had a ball. Until this year, he has never been close with the boys in his class, mainly because he has never had any boys whom he had much in common with. This year was like a whole new experience because there were 6 other boys that he played with and talked about constantly: Jimmy, Devin, Nate, Andru, Tanner and Ray. Colin and I went to college with Jimmy's mom and dad and we know them well, which is nice. Some of them live close to us now, and the others live close to where we are going to build our house, so we have plans to keep them all seeing each other throughout the summer. Colton already found out he is in the same class next year as Jimmy and Devin, so we were happy that a few of them will be together again.
Colton's main difference is that he has more teeth!! Poor kid went forever without his front teeth and they are finally in or coming in as you can see here:

Sara really loves the carrot cake I make almost every Easter, so I had planned on making her one for Sunday but we found out John had ordered her one. I decided I would make one and take it to La Posta and made the mistake of not telling Colton it would be a surprise. While at lunch on Sunday, she made the comment that all she wanted for her birthday was my carrot cake and Colton said, "You have to wait for tomorrow!" Colin gave him a little kick underneath the table and Colton said, "Ouch! Daddy, why'd you kick me?" which made all of us crack up! I just knew she figured it out, but found out Monday that John had, but she never did! So, I still surprised her with it.
All her friends enjoyed it, too! It was a very nice evening!
We finished the evening off with some dessert, provided by Michael's mom, in the lobby/breakfast area of the hotel, and then off to bed to prepare for the following day.
Oh well - she didn't seem to mind too much! :-)

After lunch, it was time to say our goodbyes as our family hit the road for home. Like I said, it was a very short trip, but well worth it! We are very blessed to have the Hamricks as our friends and are so proud of Michael for all his accomplishments!!
Now, here they are a couple of months later:
He and Colton had a great time playing together in Grampa's backyard. Colton would run and Tucker would chase! 
They each had a great time, and Grammy and Grampa were grateful to Colton for "tuckering" Tucker out so that he might sleep all night tonight!! :-)
He is a lot of fun, but a lot of work, too! We actually get to puppy-sit this summer when Grammy and Grampa head to Washington for a few weeks. Should definitely keep us busy!! :-)
