Workin' Hard on Fair Projects

Colton didn't have as much time to work on fair projects between homework and football, but he took a lot of pictures over the summer and also completed his annual scrapbook.  Cady, also did her scrapbook and took pictures, but she had a little more time to work on a few other things to enter in this year's fair. 

 

The one she was most excited about was a cross we saw on Pinterest, made of toilet paper rolls!  She took 7 rolls, cut them into fourths and then used a hot glue gun to glue them together:

 Next, she spray painted it with an oil rubbed bronze color:

 It turned out beautiful and you can't tell that it's recycled tp tubes!

 She also made this cute Fall owl wreath for our front door:

 Finally, Colton had given her a tie-blanket kit last Christmas and she would work on tying squares together while we were driving to and from soccer practice (25 mins one way!) or while watching tv:

 She did a great job and can't wait to use it after the fair:

Aggie Football Fun with Family and Friends

 Two weekends ago, for the Aggie/Lobo football game, we got in some much needed family time! Jeff and Tammi and family and Papa Jimmy and Gramma Suzy all came down to tailgate and watch the game.  Because of Colton's football game, we didn't have much time to plan a tailgate party, so we joined our good friends, the Giffings, at theirs (we were invited!).  It was a lot of fun - just wish the Aggies would have won!

 The next day we hung out at Gramma Mary's house and watched the Cowboys play the Saints (Cowboys won - yay!)  The kids enjoyed seeing each other and playing together - it had been since Gramma Mary's party in May!!

I'm a Football Mom! (Go Zia Dawgs!)

Colton decided he was burned out on soccer and wanted to play football for his school's 7th grade team.  I was a little hesitant - he's not that big and that is a rough sport - but he really wanted to play and his buddy, Jimmie, was playing too.  That at least helps with pick ups from practices because we take turns with Jim's parents.  He practices 4 days a week for 2 hours right after school and LOVES it!  Even with scrapes, scratches and bruises all over and how sore and tired he is. He was so excited to get his pads and uniform and boy did he look handsome! These pics were taken 2 weekends ago at their very first game:

 He also loves that their team is named after Cruces High - where he and his buddies plan to attend high school in less than 3 years! (gulp!)

 They beat the Lynn Cougars 42-6!  It was a great game - very exciting and fun!  I think I will like being a football mom!
