Our New Home Away from Home

We had outgrown our old camper about 3 years prior and camping in it just hadn't been that comfortable.  We love camping, though, and decided that the kids were growing up way too soon and this was something we felt was important.  We have many trips planned where it would come in handy and this one had everything and more that we were looking for!

The following pics were taken the day we went to finalize the sale, get a brief orientation and hook it up to take it home.  We were all so excited!

Colton enjoying the comfortable dining table:
The weekend after we brought it home, we decided to break it in with a small campout at home.  Our neighbors probably thought we were crazy but it was a fun, relaxing evening.  We grilled out for dinner and hung out by our fire pit for a while:
Then it was a movie and a round or two of our favorite game, Jokers, before turning in for the night:

We had a great time breaking it in and couldn't wait to go use it for a real camping trip somewhere!

A Special Visitor

In February, we all got to see and catch up with a special lady whom we hadn't seen since 2009.  Colin's Aunt Mary was in town for a couple days, on her way to visit other family in Deming and Arizona.  She stayed with Grammy and Grandpa and we met them all for dinner at La Posta one evening.  She lives in Durango, CO so we don't get to see her very often.  It was nice to catch up and we promised her we'd be to Durango soon and would be in touch!

Valentine's Weekend 2016

This year, Valentine festivities were scattered over a few days due to being so busy, and since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday.  Cady had to make a Valentine Box at home and decided she wanted to make a camper.  I had fun helping her and it turned out pretty darn cute:

She wanted Valentine's to match, of course so I came up with an idea, printed them out, then she colored each one for her friends and classmates, cut them out, signed them and stapled a pack of Skittles on the back.

 They came out pretty cute!

That Friday night, Colin and I were able to sneak away for a quick Valentine's Date, hanging out at our favorite, local spot High Desert Brewery:
Saturday night was the annual 4-H Sweetheart's Dance, held out in Fort Selden. We attended that as a family and had a lot of fun:
Colton was named Senior King of the dance:
On Sunday, we were excited to go see the Harlem Globetrotters at the Pan Am Center. Colin had purchased us all tickets for Christmas.  It had been a long time since we'd seen them (it was a first for Cady!) and they were as funny and entertaining as ever!
I loved watching her reaction as much as the Globetrotters!

Daddy bought them each their own basketball during intermission:
Colton and Grampa enjoying the show:
Afterwards, they fought the crowd and were each able to get 2 autographs. The highlight for Cady was meeting the sole female member of the team, Sweet J:
It was a very fun afternoon!
